Before Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final match against hosts Morocco, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle and midfielder Alex Iwobi have voiced a great deal of optimism, according to BSNSports.com.ng.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game, Chelle stressed that the players must be focused and prepared despite the physical and psychological strain that the team’s lengthy travel in the lead-up to the game has imposed on them.

As the Super Eagles prepare for their AFCON semifinal matchup with Morocco, Chelle and Iwobi are confident.

“To win this on Wednesday, we need to put in a lot of effort,” Chelle stated. “As professionals, it doesn’t matter that flying to different locations within three days of a semi-final is quite demanding. Despite the tension, we need to be psychologically prepared and give it our all. We don’t have any justifications.

During the pre-match press conference, midfield playmaker Alex Iwobi backed his coach’s optimism. The Fulham player stated that the team would approach the semifinal with the same mentality that has helped them advance through the competition thus far.
